I’ve done some things to it that purists may not be too happy w ith.
Overall the OS seems pretty stable. It is slow as fudge though, mostly because Android is using 70% of the 1GB RAM in this thing just running. I have a bigger stick in the mail that should cure that.

I rember my first computer ( just for me) had a whopping 512 mb of rdram and 164 mb in the graphics card. The first computer my family owned had 4mb if ram with a doubler compression program.

Eeepc? I had one of those for a minute, it was fun for dinking around, but just way too short on RAM to be remotely useful.

This is more of an experiment than anything. I was drunk and it was $30. If it works well I may spring for a fancier convertible touchscreen netbook and run Android on that.
I have a tablet to use when I travel but I can’t use it with a keyboard unless I have a table available, so really it’s just a bigger version of my phone and that’s just redundant. I wanted to see what android could be like for me in a traditional laptop form factor.
Plus, I was drunk. Did I mention that?

We all know every good decision starts this way.

How is it with Android? What version are your running? It has to be an X86 build, right?

It’s x86 32bit, current version. Aside from the aforementioned slowness it’s runn ing well. Only issue I’m encountering is some gradient banding on the screen, but that may be due to the hardware being old enough that it can’t really su pport android.

I had an ASUS transformer tablet years ago that was awesome combination of a tablet and a keyboard, but it had a Tegra in it which would run circles around that first gen atom in that EEEP C.
I’ ve been thinking of starting to tinker with Chrome OS and see what that looks like in laptop format. I’d run Android on a Raspberry PI before, that’s the king of the ‘it’s $30 fuck it’ experiment. Those damn things litter my house, I buy one every other time I go to micro center...

This is called a “Chromebook” in the parlance...
